The Grizzlies played for two seasons in the Continental Hockey League. They played their games at the Cascade Sports Arena.
In 1980-81, the Grizzlies qualified for the play-offs. Other teams in the league were: Kenosha Chargers, Chicago Cardinals, Peoria Blades, and the Springfield Kings.
In 1981-82, the Grizzlies competed with teams in Chicago, Peoria, Springfield, Decatur, Dansville, and Janesville. The Grizzlies only played a dozen games before they suspended operations. I'm don't know the reason for the Grizzlies demise.
The Chicago Cardinals colors were red, gold and white. They played their home games (most of them) at the Southwest Ice Arena in Crestwood, Illinois. The Peoria Blades colors were blue and gold, and they played at the Owens Ice Arena on the north side of Peoria, Illinois. The Springfield Kings colors were purple and gold (much like the OLD Los Angeles Kings jerseys). They played at the Ice Chateau in Springfield, Illinois which has since been converted into an indoor soccer facility. The Danville Dashers colors were red, white, and blue and they played at the David Palmer civic center in Danville, Illinois.
The CHL existed from 1972-73 until 1986-87.
Other than this, I have no other information about the team. If anyone knows any additional information about the Grizzlies (i.e. team colors, coaches, records, years in league, etc.), please mail it to me. Thanks.
